Job Introduction:

G4S Events is Europe’s leading provider of Event Stewards and Security personnel working in the largest and most prestigious events and venues. Because of an exceptionally busy program of events coming up in 2018, we are looking to expand our team of Supervisors.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at a supervisory level at venues we regularly cover in Scotland including Hampden, Ibrox, Celtic Park, Murrayfield, The SEC, The SSE Hydro and many others.

Upcoming one-off events include the TRNSMT Festival, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran at Hampden, The Open Golf and Glasgow 2018 (transport will be provided if you are working out with Glasgow).

Role Responsibility:

Looking after teams of up to 20 casual Event Stewards, you will maintain high levels of professionalism whilst reporting to the Operations Manager.

Your specific duties will include:

  • Be conversant with, and understand client requirements applicable to each Event
  • Ensure all operatives are dressed in accordance with Company guidelines, escalating non-compliance to operational managers (on site)
  • Communicate the Event requirements to operatives under their direction via briefings (individual & collective)
  • Ensure that any special & specific requirements are understood by the operatives under their direction
  • Brief operatives on what is expected of them and what to expect during the event.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times with regards to personal data relating to stewards & clients
  • Ensure any new operatives are given a site familiarization and support managers with on-boarding requirements
  • Oversee and assist, in the safe movement of the public throughout all phases of the Event.
  • Be in contact with the control room and keep them up to date, take instruction from Management via control.
  • Report any incidents to control and fill out appropriate paperwork at the end of shift then hand to manager.
  • Ensure all staff under their direction are conversant with the evacuation procedures for the Event/Venue, lead by example, including checking for understanding
  • Management of radios and other equipment as directed by Operational Management
  • Train and mentor staff under your direction, providing advice and guidance on a number of issues
  • Deputise for Operations manager when required including the management of smaller events
  • Attend pre and post event meetings with the client deputising for Operations Manager when required
  • Work as an Event steward when required to support the wider Event Operation
  • Managing the Health, Safety & Wellbeing of all the staff under their direction
  • Other duties as and when required by the Operations Manager

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for people to be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow with supervisory experience ideally within an Events setting.

You must be able to demonstrate at interview a number of key skills including excellent communication, strong leadership and organisation, customer service, a flexible approach to work, excellent judgement and situational awareness as well as an understanding of the Events Industry. Because of the nature of the work we do, we looking for people who would be willing to travel nationally to support the needs of the business.

You must hold a Level 2 in Spectator Safety as well as a valid SIA Door Supervisors licence.

Additional desirable but not essential skills and knowledge include possessing a Level 3 in Spectator Safety, holding a drivers licence, experience of writing reports and experience of using radios.
